Terra Engineering provided the site engineering for this LEED-Silver Certified college preparatory school. Following the owner’s mandate to achieve an environmentally responsible project, Terra designed a stormwater management system that required no connection to the city sewer main. All stormwater on site is directed to the permeable paver parking lot, where it is detained and allowed to infiltrate into the native sandy sub soils on-site rather than the city sewer. This design was permitted through the Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) – Sewer Section to verify 2009 regulation requirements were met.

Terra also engineered the site’s surrounding ROW sidewalks and ramps to accommodate ADA accessibility requirements. Terra’s involvement extended through the construction process, providing construction services for all civil design installations.

Through Terra’s efforts, the project achieved a number of Sustainable Site LEED credits, resulting in an environmentally responsible, LEED-Silver project.
