TERRA was the prime consultant providing site development and landscape architecture services for the renovation of an existing seven-acre park. Improvements included a new artificial turf athletic field striped for football, soccer and lacrosse meeting ISHA programming guidelines, new senior baseball field, sports field lighting and new playground. The TERRA design team provided the Park District numerous field layout options to study field overlap, playability and impact on existing fields and infrastructure. This allowed the park district to choose the option that aligned most closely with their programming, maintenance and budget goals. Site development was compact to limit disturbance and therefore minimize stormwater detention, a costly consideration in developing these facilities. The playground was designed for small kids (2-5 years) and older kids (5-12 years) and play equipment selected to separate age groups to provide a safe play experience for all.
