TERRA developed the site work and storm water detention for this lot-to-lot, residential high-rise in Chicago’s River North area, across the street from the iconic Merchandise Mart. Work included coordination of underground utilities with the design team to accommodate a cast-in-place concrete storm water detention vault designed by the project’s structural engineer. Coordination also included providing access to the tank from the first-floor parking ramp area for future maintenance considerations.

TERRA permitted the storm water detention design through the Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) – Sewer Section to verify 2007 regulation requirements were met. TERRA also gained approval from The DWM – Water Section for the new, single 12-inch water service needed for this project from Carroll Avenue.

TERRA set up communication and coordinated with the Chicago Department of Transportation – Bridges in order to provide appropriate ventilation along the western side of the project, where the project enclosed the eastern cavity under the Wells Street bridge. TERRA engineered a new vent opening through the Wells Street bridge in order to provide adequate ventilation.

TERRA provided construction services for the project, including site observations during civil design installations, review of product submittals and coordination with the design team to respond to RFIs.
