TERRA has recently been awarded a contract to perform the Phase I and Phase II engineering design for the structure replacement and roadway improvements for Lancaster Road (County Highway 55) over LaMarsh Creek, located approximately 2.5 miles west of Bartonville in rural Peoria County. The existing structure is a three-span bridge that is 101’-0” long back to back of abutments, with continuous steel girders supporting a cast in place concrete deck.

Lancaster Road is the main road leading to the Lake Camelot subdivision. Lake Camelot consists of approximately 680 single-family homes. Lancaster Road is a narrow, winding road with 10-foot-wide travel lanes and four-foot-wide shoulders within this project area.

The proposed improvements for this project include complete structure removal and replacement, and reconstruction of the roadway from 250 feet east of the bridge to 1,800 feet west of the bridge. The proposed roadway will be reconstructed to modern standards with wider lanes, wider shoulders, flatter slopes and improved superelevation of the pavement. Intersecting roads on the west side of the bridge will need to be relocated, due to an anticipated proposed bridge structure that will be longer in length.
