Located at 3415 Book Road in Naperville, the South Maintenance Facility was designed and built to increase operational efficiencies for the Naperville Park District. The building showcases several environmentally-sustainable site features such as bioswales and drought-tolerant landscape, and is the first facility in Naperville to seek LEED certification and achieving LEED Silver. The building was supported through a $100,000 grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for the energy-efficient design and commissioning of the facility. The site is located next to an existing park and parking lot, thus the facility needed to be entirely enclosed. Within the fenced-in site are an office building, cold storage building, maintenance-vehicle parking lot, wash bay, and fueling station.

TERRA designed the site for this new park district maintenance facility and provided services including site analysis, schematic design, design development, construction documents, permitting and construction administration. A sanitary sewer was also designed for a public restroom facility in the adjacent park. This needed to be constructed prior to the maintenance facility but designed with the maintenance facility in mind. The sanitary sewer plan and profile were provided and an Illinois EPA permit was obtained.
