In 2011, the Village of Matteson approved a resolution to use Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds for the replacement of its existing, deteriorating salt dome with a larger capacity salt dome, designed to meet the current demands of the village. TERRA provided the engineering for the demolition of the existing salt dome as well as the design for the new 51-ft. diameter, 1,000 ton, 10-Ft. exterior wall salt storage facility. TERRA’s design obtained the approval of IDOT’s Bureau of Local Roads as part of the MFT fiscal year program for Matteson. In addition to the demolition of the existing storage facility, the work included constructing reinforced concrete base walls, erecting the furnished prefabricated dome structure, installing roofing materials, constructing a hot mix asphalt pad, and painting.
TERRA is responsible for all aspects of the job.
