Ping Tom Memorial Park Boathouse Earns ACEC-IL Special Achievement Award
On Friday, February 7, TERRA Engineering, Ltd. received the Special Achievement Award for Small Projects and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois’ 2014 Winter Conference and Annual Engineering Excellence Awards in Normal, Illinois for the design of Chicago Park District’s Ping Tom Memorial Park Boathouse.
St. Charles Red Gate Bridge Project Wins National Project of the Year Award
St. Charles, Illinois has earned the 2013 Public Works Project of the Year Award for its category and scope from the American Public Works Association (APWA). TERRA provided landscape architectural services, which included designing the bridge piers, railings, and the pedestrian bridge suspended from the overhead vehicular bridge deck.
Southwest Area High School Achieves LEED Platinum Rating
Southwest Area High School becomes the first Chicago Public School project to achieve Platinum status from United States Green Building Council. TERRA provided the civil engineering for the school and employed a number of strategies to achieve a sustainable site design.
Juarez High School Addition Awarded ASCE-IL Sustainability Award
In September 2012, TERRA’s design for the Benito Juarez High School Addition was awarded the sustainability achievement award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, Illinois Division. TERRA worked closely with public agencies to create a sustainable solution for stormwater management. You can read more about the project here.
Lincoln Park Zoo Announces New Macaque Exhibit
TERRA Engineering is excited to be involved in the new exhibit at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The 2.2 acre renovation includes a new entryway, exhibits featuring the macaques monkeys, pond restoration, and geothermal system. The project is planned to open in Fall of 2014. See Tribune article here.
Scoville Park Opens
TERRA Engineering participated in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening Festivities for Oak Park’s Scoville Park on June 1, 2013. TERRA provided civil engineering for the park renovation, which included a new plaza, playground, tennis courts, and entrances.
McCormick Place Hyatt Expansion Opens

On June 4, 2013, the McCormick Place Hyatt Expansion officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony that hosted guests such as Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel. TERRA provided civil engineering for the expansion. The project hopes to foster a new entertainment district that will bring increased revenue to Chicago.
Ridgeland Common Renovation Project Breaks Ground
On March 9, 2013, TERRA Engineering participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Park District of Oak Park’s Ridgeland Common Renovation Project. As part of the renovation TERRA designed a new synthetic turf field, dog park, and utility upgrades. On March 8, 2013, TERRA Engineering gathered in downtown Peoria, IL with notable officials including the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, to break ground for the TIGER II Complete Streets and Washington Street Improvement Projects.
Jamil Bou-Saab wins Community Service Award
TERRA’s Executive Vice President, Jamil Bou-Saab, was recently awarded the 2012 Community Service Award by the Park District of Oak Park. The Park District described Jamil as their “first, second, and third pair of eyes when planning and constructing park improvement projects.” Jamil and 5 other citizens were recognized at a ceremony on February 21, 2013.

City of Elmwood Receives $1.7 Million for Downtown Improvements

On January 30, 2013, IDOT announced that the City of Elmwood was the winner of an ITEP Grant for improvements to its downtown district after being damaged by a tornado in 2010. The City hired TERRA Engineering to design the streetscape improvements.
